For a design that is both old-world and timeless, you cannot beat the look of masonry. We take pride in our installation skills for brick pavers and cobblestones, and we use these blocks to create designs that are both practical and attractive.

The Building Blocks of Masonry

You can choose between brick pavers and cobblestone pavers for your masonry project from PALERMO PAVING. Blocks come in a variety of colors, so you can select the shade that best complements your property or mix and match colors to create a custom look.

Brick Pavers

Brick is an old medium that is still popular today. These pavers are made from clay. To make bricks, the clay is shaped using a mold, and then it is heat-cured.

With proper installation and care, brick-paved surfaces can last for many years. Proper installation is key to their longevity. Regularly sealing the bricks will also help keep them in good shape.

Cobblestone

Made from natural rock, cobblestone pavers are the most durable masonry option for driveways and other surfaces. These pavers are cut from granite, basalt or other sturdy rocks and laid into a prepared surface.

Cobblestone pavers are easy to care for. They do not require regular maintenance other than occasional washing. Despite their easy care requirements, if properly installed, these hardy pavers can last at least four times as long as brick pavers do.

Masonry Projects

Pavers have uses throughout your property. We can lay them over a large area or use them to create an attractive accent piece that complements the design of your home, neighborhood or business.

Steps

Building a set of steps with pavers is an easy way to bring the look of masonry into your outdoor design. Whether you want a few simple steps going up to the front door or a lengthy stepped walkway, we can install the masonry staircase that you envision.

When laid on a solid foundation, masonry steps are solid and durable. They can serve as a stand-alone masonry element or coordinate with other masonry pieces throughout your design. Their old-world charm creates a welcoming atmosphere that is just right for greeting those who visit your property.

Patios

To expand the use of masonry at your home or business, we can lay a full patio with pavers. A masonry patio invites you to spend time outdoors, where you can take in the fresh air and enjoy the feel of firm blocks under your feet. We install pavers with care to create an even surface that will properly support tables and chairs.

Sidewalks

With a design composed of your favorite pavers, masonry walkways can be a work of art. We can lay a full sidewalk in front of your house or construct a winding garden path. Masonry sidewalks add a touch of class and elegance to your property and invite you to stretch your legs for a stroll along their sturdy surface.

Retaining Walls

Sometimes a retaining wall is necessary for maintaining the structural integrity of your property. A retaining wall does not have to detract from the look of your yard. With carefully laid masonry, the wall can be pleasing to the eye as well as functional.

Building a retaining wall requires consideration of:

  • Pressure Distribution: The structure must be able to withstand the pressure from the soil behind it.
  • Water Management: Water must be diverted from the retaining wall so that moisture does not pool behind it.
  • Final Appearance: The retaining wall should add to the look of your yard rather than detract from it.

When our team constructs masonry retaining walls, we balance these and other important considerations so that the final product will serve its purpose for many years to come.

Driveway Aprons

Brick or cobblestone pavers will give you a strong driveway that stands out from others in your neighborhood. You can also use pavers for your driveway apron, the transition piece that connects your driveway to the adjoining road. With a brick or cobblestone apron, you can incorporate masonry into your driveway design without using pavers for the entire surface.

If you prefer a poured concrete apron, we can do that as well. For a solid and sturdy entrance to the drive, you can add a concrete apron to any style of driveway.

For driveways to be long-lasting, proper installation is critical. We build driveways and aprons that are strong because we prepare a supportive foundation before ever laying the first brick.

With our masonry services, we can elevate the look of your property while maintaining functionality. Whether you want pavers for your steps, your sidewalks or your driveway apron, give us a call to get started.
